American Silk Mills is introducing its new Brussels Stria velvet at Showtime Market in High Point, North Carolina this week.
The updated version of American Silk Mills’ luxury Brussels velvet offers texture and a soft shimmer in 10 new colors.
Brussels, which was first introduced to the company in 1994, has sold more than 2.4 million yards to more than 1,100 different customers over the years. Beginning this year, to go along with its new Stria introduction, American Silk Mills will be partnering with a mill in India for the exclusive development and production of its Brussels velvet, offering cut order fulfillment for Brussels Stria within 48 hours.
“As a result of the collaborative efforts of American Silk Mills and our new mill partner, Brussels velvet is now better than ever,” says David Corbin, CEO of American Silk Mills. “We’ve taken the quality, safety and durability of Brussels to the next level, and have raised the bar for high-end luxury velvet. The improvements we’ve made demonstrate our commitment to developing textiles that look beautiful and exceed our customers’ expectations for quality and performance.”
Other changes coming to the Brussels fabrics include improved lead times, a 50% increased weight per square yard and a twice increased double rub count that will enable the fabric to be used in residential, hospitality and contract settings.
In addition to quality improvements for the velvet, American Silk Mills will also announce a substantial price reduction for the fabrics, to be effective June 2.
“The new pricing will reflect the greater efficiencies and quality delivered by our exclusive mill partner, and we’re excited to offer our customers better quality luxury velvet at better prices,” says Corbin.
