Universal Furniture is unveiling what it calls “its most purposeful collection to date” with model and businesswoman Miranda Kerr this fall.
Kerr, a native Australian who began modeling at age 14, a is a social media sensation with a combined audience of more than 25 million between her various social media accounts. Through her extensive reach, Kerr has become well known for setting style and lifestyle trends.
“Miranda brings a new perspective and a new generation to Universal,” says Jeff Scheffer, Universal Furniture’s CEO. “This collaboration is part of our strategy to prepare our company and our retail partners for the shifts necessary to capture the millennials - the largest generation ever with more than $1.4 trillion in spending power.”
Kerr’s move from fashion into furniture design is a natural step for her, she explains in a release from Universal Furniture.
“As someone who loves the sanctuary of being at home and surrounding myself with beautiful pieces, it has been a dream of mine to create my own collection of furniture that not only looks aesthetically pleasing but that also promotes a warm, positive, loving energy in the home,” says Kerr.
Kerr says her products are influenced by the people and cultures she has experienced traveling for her career and life, both of which have taken her around the world. During the design process, Kerr says she has paid special attention to small details, and had a specific vision for what she hoped to convey through her furnishings.
“I was very specific with every little detail – from design, materials, fabrics, colors and textures to the positive word of affirmation you will find hidden on each piece,” says Kerr. “To me, home is where the hearts is, and I hope this collection brings more love and joy into your home. The pieces are timeless, beautiful and inspiring but also practical for everyday life – as a busy working mother, I appreciate functionality and the ease it brings.”
Kerr’s whole-home collection will officially debut this fall at High Point Market. While retailers and consumers will have to wait until fall to the see full collection, they can subscribe and follow the design journey by visiting Universal Furniture’s website to get behind the scenes sneak peeks and be among the first to know about product debuts.
