One of the biggest trends in the design world right now is the seamless integration between indoor and outdoor environments. We’ve done two very successful Las Vegas Market panels on this topic, and I am always impressed with the passion interior designers have for ”the fifth room” projects. With health and wellness a growing focus, the accessibility of nature and fresh air is vital. No more are yards, patios and porches an afterthought—these open-air spaces are demanding the same thoughtful and stylish design as their interior counterparts. Interior designers are creating dynamic outdoor experiences and Designers Today will be covering it, collaborating with our sister publication Exterior Design, and utilizing the expertise of their extraordinary editors, Jennifer Bringle and Alex Milstein. Jennifer and Alex are part of the DT editorial team now as Managing Editor and Senior Editor, respectively. In the spirit of the holistic environment, our union feels complete. We’re excited to celebrate the indoor/outdoor blur as great design knows no boundaries.
You’ll see content from Jennifer and Alex online and in print starting with the March issue. They’ll introduce you to manufacturers who make swoon-worthy products with materials that stand up to the elements, and they’ll share insights and projects from designers who deftly marry the interior and exterior space. Stay tuned for more in this exciting new partnership, and feel free to reach out to Jennifer at firstname.lastname@example.org and Alex at email@example.com with comments and story ideas. I am very very happy that I now have a team!
