SHOWTIME REVIEW: Cool Fabrics in Warm Tones

This was my first time covering Showtime, the International Textile Alliance's biannual event where fabric mills and suppliers show off the latest in fabric, leather, and trim. Shopped primarily by furniture manufacturers and retailers, vendors are beginning to open up to interior designers. A lot of what is viewed here by manufacturers, we will see in their showrooms at Market.

I ventured around the show with Caroline Hipple and Dixon Bartlett from Norwalk Furniture. I loved trying to guess which fabrics would light them up.  All the fabric samples they requested will ship to their studio and they will start dividing into color stories for Fall Market. Dixon will create the floor plan of market and the two will dole out the vignettes accordingly, weeding out the extras along the way. Come fall, I'll look forward to seeing what they've chosen and how they mixed it up.

For my time there, I was drawn to the warmer tones and to textures that emulate blankets and indigenous cloth. Here are some of my finds:
