FIND JANE AT MARKET

This is my first High Point Market as Editor in Chief as Designers Today and to make it extra special I am aligning and allying with a host of amazing people at an array of events. Here are a few highlights. Hope you can join for one or all.

FOR MIMOSA-LOVING ART DECO-INSPIRED MULTITASKERS

Sunday, 9 - 10 AM

Burton James, 310 N. Hamilton

If you are specifying better upholstery - start your Market Sunday at Burton James where interior designer Michelle Workman and I will be easing into the day, draped on some fabulous upholstery, discussing classic Art Deco, how this swanky style transcends and trends. Michelle, as you may know, was raised in Los Angeles on a steady stream of iconic Hollywood architecture and film and Art Deco has been a huge style influence on her design career. That brings us to Burton James, custom upholsterer, who is launching an Art Deco-inspired collection featuring curves galore, channeled leather, and fur.

15 MINUTES

PAINTING WITH AVIVA @ THE POINT

Sunday 1 - 1:30

My 15 minutes of fame with be spent painting with all-around creative goddess Aviva Stanoff. Not sure what exactly we will be creating, but who cares. Having time with this exemplary design power is enough.

BARCLAY AND US

Sunday 2-3:30

Nourison IH-101

The first half of this event is devoted to a meet and greet with Barclay Butera and a preview of his new rug collection, after which the divine Susan Dickenson and I will join him for a conversation about product design, inspiration, and whatever else comes up. I always find it refreshing that Barclay is a super down-to-earth fellow with a skyrocketing career AND I am most curious about how the new real estate arm of his eponymous business intersects and complements his bread-and-butter design work. (P.S. What I love about Nourison-hosted events is that they do not require an elevator or escalator ride!)

ZUO Meet Jane.jpg

PITCH PERFECT

Tuesday 4 - 6

ZUO D-502

Just when things are starting to quiet down a bit on Tuesday afternoon, we’re going to make some noise at ZUO with the help of Joseph Haecker of Design Talk Live who is going to get us situated on FB Live. I’m going to share the new direction of Designers Today and answer any of your questions and what I really want to do is LEARN ABOUT YOU. What makes you tick? How and why are you in this crazy wonderful business? What are your best skills and where are you most challenged. Come prepared to share and pitch!
