Madera named design director at foley&cox

In her new role as Design Director, Madera will be taking a more active role within the firm, by interacting directly with clients and staff, as well as managing design projects from conception to completion.

New York -- foley&cox, announced the promotion of the firm’s designer, Zunilda Madera to the role of Design Director, effective Oct. 1st, 2016.

After more than nine years of working side-by-side with co-founders, Michael Cox and Mary Foley, Ms. Madera has demonstrated her abilities to connect with clients through creativity, passion and craft, always employing her characteristic energy and highest standards.

Michael Cox, principal, commented, “We are thrilled to promote Zuni to the role of Design Director. Since joining us in 2007, she has been instrumental in defining the firm’s culture and has played a vital role in our commitment to design excellence.”

Mary Foley, principal, continued, “Zuni’s positive attitude and strong work ethic make her the perfect candidate for this new position within the firm. She has proven her dedication and ability through hard work, excellent organizational qualities, and unwavering interpersonal communication skills which make her well-suited for this new role.”

In her new role as Design Director, Madera will be taking a more active role within the firm, by interacting directly with clients and staff, as well as managing design projects from conception to completion. This will include overseeing daily operations of the NYC-based team, comprehensive project management of domestic and international luxury residences, as well as support of the firm’s cofounders in all aspects of developing and growing the firm.

This move comes as the firm embarks on an enhanced internal talent strategy to meet client demand for custom design services. foley&cox continues to expand its capabilities beyond the residential interior market through their antiques store, foley&cox HOME in Hudson, NY and their proprietary furniture collection.

A native New Yorker, Ms. Madera holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Currently, Ms. Madera oversees project management and is instrumental in the design and final project presentations with clients. She also works hand-in-hand with the partners on administrative responsibilities including hiring, team mentoring and training. Prior to joining foley&cox, Ms. Madera was part of the visual team at Banana Republic, which inspired her to pursue a career in interior design.
